 End Notes

Welcome to The Region 6 Players’ production of All Together Now!.

I’d like to first express what an honor and joy it is to be serving as the new director of this much-esteemed theatre troupe. The previous team of directors, Christy Concilio, Becky Borbas, and Robin Christopher, left us with big shoes to fill. As the former director, musical director, and producer, each was admired for their professionalism and dedication by colleagues, administrators and parents, and adored by the students with whom they worked. I am grateful especially to Robin for her encouragement when I first expressed interest in the vacant director position last spring. I had directed previously for 7 years in the Amity school system, but it was before I had three kids. I asked myself (and Robin), could I really do this now that my life was filled with so many more demands? Robin believed in me and helped me have the confidence to take on the role, and here we are!

Regardless of what happens up on stage today-- the product of two months of work-- there was a process that these students participated in over the past 9 weeks that was transformative, and one that will stay with them for a lifetime. And it’s about so much more than becoming a better singer or dancer or actor. Remember, we started this process with an empty stage and some notes on a page. These students transformed those notes, paired them with their own original ideas for dialogue (oh yes-- they helped write the story that connects the songs) and turned a mere concept into a performance that hopes to dazzle you with sparkly costumes, powerful music and exciting dance numbers. They accomplished all of the above while doing their own juggling. They balanced rehearsals with academics, soccer, cross-country, dance classes, voice lessons, outside theatrical commitments, family obligations and more. After all, they are kids. To say that I am proud...well, that word doesn’t do the feeling justice.

I do hope they dazzle you. They have already dazzled me.

Enjoy the show!
