Welcome to Wake Forest High School Theatre’s production of
Godspell (2012 revised edition)!
We are extremely excited to be performing on stage again after a very long intermission and in front of you, a live audience! This past year has been difficult for everyone, including our resilient students. After a year of disappointments, isolation, and division, I knew we had to let our students perform this spring no matter what! They craved “normalcy,” friendships, connection, & performing the art they love so much. We felt it was important to have a small cast to ensure safety is first and foremost. We desired to lift spirits with a message of hope and love; hence, Godspell!
Godspell is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is well known for its message, use of improvisation and games, and it’s 70’s rock songs, including the chart topping folk rock ballad,
Day by Day. The story of Godspell is about bringing a community together, through the teachings of the parables, in order to build a “beautiful city” based on hope and love. In the first act, you will witness the formation of a community through storytelling, laughter, and games. Our second act tonight focuses on that community and how they learn that they no longer need to follow, yet go out and lead-with love.
A big thank you to Ms. Hamler, the administration team, and staff for their support of our Fine Arts Department; we are proud to be a part of the Wake Forest family. Thank you to our amazing WF TAP who have supported us every step of the way! Thank you to our incredible creative team : Mr. Domack, Ms. Dale, Mr. Martel, & Mrs. Hoy-Pardo. Our team has powered through all year long, always putting students first, and it is an absolute honor to have you “by my side” through it all. (See what I did there?) An extra special thank you to my husband, aka Guitar Player 1, for taking on a challenging musical score so we can experience this show together as well. Seeing these young artists perform again on stage is definitely my rainbow after the storm. May you all leave with a smile on your face, a heart full of love, and the hope that we too, can continue to build our own “beautiful city” right here in Wake Forest.
,
Enjoy the show!
