Welcome to the Northern Bedford County High School production of THE WIZ!
We are very excited to be back again on stage sharing the talent and hardwork of our community of students, to you, our community of family and friends.
This particular production was chosen many years ago and is now a full reality that we all witness tonight. Little did I know how relevant it would be in today's world.
Over the past two years, every indivual, including those of us in attendance this evening, have been affected in some manner by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our experiences have been in grief, frustation, loss, and even confusion. However, as we sit here supporting our friends, our children, and future contriubuting members of society, I ask that we take pause to come to the same realization of Dorothy in her Journey through Oz; the realization that we are stronger when we love and are loved, we are stronger when we are courageous, we are stronger when we think, and that we are stronger when we are together.
As we have all endured a journey of our own, I hope and pray that we never take these gifts for granted. I am increasingly optimistic that tonight is a celebration of all of these things in the spirit of togetherness in pure joy.
As we see tonight, and also on a daily basis in our schools and own lives, the arts are the truest conduits of expression of self and feelings especially in our heaviest times. May we continue to support and participate in them. We thank you for your continued support of the performing and visual arts here in the Northern Bedford County School District.
