The magic of Mary Poppins might be just what we need to complete this rollercoaster journey of the last two years and bring the lights back up on LOLMS drama club. With "A Spoonful of Sugar", we were able to do the work it takes to put on a theater production - learning our roles, working together, gaining confidence, receiving feedback, learning to adjust and be flexible... the list truly goes on! It might not always be a "Jolly Holiday" but when the work is done, the joy can be found in the obstacles we have conquered and the memories made along the way.
The 75 students involved in this production are new to LOLMS theater this year. Each one of them had to learn how to fulfill their role, whether on stage or off, and contribute to the process of putting on a show. I am so incredibly proud of each student for jumping into this experience with us. Where we started in December is quite different then where we have landed in March! it is simply "SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!"
To inspire some magic making, you may notice we have physically brought the stage to life by use of projections. This was no easy task and I am beyond grateful for the support by our district and the work of our maintenance crew and tech team to make my crazy dreams a reality!
This year we have also had two new additions to our program - Miss Tackett (Miss T, "Misty") and Ms. Aldrich. These two women have brought us from point A to B, from props and stage management, to musical skills, student management, and beyond. I am thankful for their commitment to our program and bringing the best out in our students.
Of course, we could never get through this process without the backbone of our production: PARENTS! You are all the Mary Poppins of our drama club. From getting our cast costumed and learning how to do stage make-up, to running concessions and creating the playbill, to donating snacks to our long days and getting your child to and from rehearsals - this could never happen without you and your support. Thank you!
