Dear Guests,
Welcome back to Eagle Theater! It has been twenty months since Broken Box Theatre Company has performed live on this stage and to say that we are beyond thrilled for this return is an understatement. As such, it only seems appropriate to begin our season with a show that allows us to escape to our childhood through the magic and fantasy that is Alice in Wonderland. In this version, playwrights Le Gallienne and Friebus combine the most fantastical elements of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass to bring to life our favorite characters. Our interpretation takes a minimalistic approach to sets and brings the fantasy of Wonderland alive through lighting, sound and costumes.
While the past year and a half has been its own adventure, one thing has remained true: live theatre helps us connect, heal and move forward. Nothing proves this to me more than working with the thirty-four members of Broken Box and seeing their passion and desire to bring this production to life. The actors and tech crew have worked tirelessly through a fast-paced rehearsal process that has been challenging yet rewarding, and I am blessed to work with such dedicated students who embrace collaboration and creativity.
We would like to thank Superintendent Dr. Meyer, The MVLA Board of Education, Principal Ms. Satterwhite, the Executive Cabinet and the LAHS Administrative Team for their support in our return to indoor performances. With a safety plan in place, we are limiting the audience capacity to 50% and we appreciate your cooperation in wearing a mask throughout the performance. For your convenience, our programs this season will be available online using a QR code posted at the theater entrance and on the back wall.
Additional thanks to the Anand family for hosting our cast party and all of our guests for your continued support. Enjoy the show!
Nancy Moran
