A Note About the Show
You’re only a fool if you give up, boy (Jafar)
The story of Aladdin brings to audiences of all ages the prime example of what it means to never give up on what you believe in, and always try to do the most you can because when you feel like it is time to give up, there is always more you can do. We have all experienced a time in our life when we felt helpless and hopeless like there is no way of recovering, especially given recent events. Take a second to look around the room, take a deep breath, and smile, because life always moves forward and there can always be a positive result. The story of Aladdin begins with a young orphan and his three best friends yearning for nothing more than just a piece of bread. Aladdin is selfless and shares his food with people even less fortunate than him. With the coincidence of the palace guards and shop owners chasing him to the exact same spot where his true love resides, he realizes his true destiny does not only go as far as a piece of bread. Aladdin, wanting to marry the love of his life so badly, entrusts a mysterious and magical stranger. Proving that you can always follow your dreams. Jasmine is another example of following your own path to achieve positive results, she spends her life behind closed doors due to her father’s strict rules, and with the help of her three best friends, she decides it is time to find her own destiny. Not everyone can see the positive and instead use their short-sightedness for evil, going so far as entrapping a bird to do their bidding, but destiny is stronger than dreams sometimes and we can all end up exactly where we are meant to be. These kids have worked immensely hard to put on this production for you. For some of them, this is their first production and we could not be more proud. It has been really fun directing my first show! it is so interesting to see all of the steps that go into making a show from the director's perspective. When I first met the kids I was very nervous, I didn't want to let the kids down. But they are all so wonderfully kind and welcomed me right away. I now feel a bit more confident to take on a project like this again!
