BHS Drama Club is so excited to be bringing musical theatre back to the Bogota community. What better show to present after our unavoidable hiatus than “The Spongebob Musical,” a fun, energetic and crazy under sea adventure! If you are a fan of the cartoon, see if you can catch some of the many iconic lines from the show’s characters. With many famous guests appearing in Spongebob Squarepants episodes, it is no surprise that the score for the musical is written by many famous artists including John Legend, David Bowie, T.i., Panic! At the Disco and more.

After being introduced to our main characters in Bikini Bottom, Spongebob, with his eternal optimism, tries to find a way to save the town and its inhabitants from an imminent, deadly, volcanic eruption. Plankton and Krabs are locked in their ongoing fast food war and Squidward has written his own musical and is running out of time to perform it. Sandy is determined to help with science, but faces opposition. Will Spongebob be able to pull this off? Does he have what it takes? Will anyone help him?

This show would not be before you without all the help from our Bogota family. To our Principal, Ms. Foley-DeCongelio, Vice Principal, Dr. Lash, Superintendent Mr. Kennedy and Board of Education members, sincerest thanks for all you do each day. Mr. O’Boyle, rocking art teacher, thank you for your talents and support. Thanks to Laura de la Garza for her input and my Intro to Theatre students, whose talents can be seen in our costumes. Mr. Severino, thank you for your talents and suggestions. Valerie Brito, your hardwork and dedication are such a shining example - you helped "prop us up" to make it a reality. Mr. Prachthauser, great job! Thank you for sharing your expertise with us and I enjoyed having you on the team. We have a show here! Mr. McCann, I will miss getting to do this with you, as you retire this year. This marks our 14th show together! Thanks for your willingness to do what it takes and put things on wheels when needed! Thank you Caleb, for helping out last minute and, as always, so much thanks goes to Mr. Hughes for his help and support. I could not do any of this without him.

Thank you to so many parents who helped with prop building, publicity and programs. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with your amazing students. What a great cast! We have had so much fun bringing this story to life, finding our hidden talents and encouraging one another in our victories.

So celebrate with us as we rejoice in the idea that we all have each other, no matter what, and we hope that you leave here humming “The Best Day Ever” and then go and make it so!
