Tonight’s show represents unfinished business.
We started preparing the show in 2020 but were interrupted by the pandemic. I hope some of those 2020 cast members are here to see our version. Our choreographers for tonight’s show were 2020 cast members. I'm glad that they got to be a part of the one they missed out on.
We've been able to refer to the show many times as we've studied the 1920s in history class. Several students in my Citizenship class created materials that we are using in the production. It was great that Singin in the Rain wasn't just a production but it was also an educational experience.
Special thanks to Dave Grosser for directing the music. He has been so great to work with and is highly competent.
Julianna Velgersdyke and Clare Danz are high school students, but they like when I include them when I ask the adults to meet after practice! They are also accomplished dancers and some of the best choreographers I have worked with.
Tara Bosch and Lisa Bolton went above and beyond to get together the costumes and props.
The March family have worked with lighting and planning the cast party. Thank you! Thanks to Katie Abbring for designing the poster. Finally, I would like to thank Andy Heddle for pulling together this program. I know it will be a great keepsake for me and I'm sure the families of the cast and crew feel the same way.
It has been a pleasure to work with this year's staff, cast and crew. Everyone has been so eager to put on a show. Our practices were fun and everyone was so cooperative. I'm glad that I was able to share my last production with them. This is the 10th musical that I've produced but only the 2nd that I've directed. I would like to thank all of the staff, parents and other volunteers who have made this journey such a memorable one.
Enjoy the songs, the humor and the dancing as we celebrate the return of musicals to Avail Academy.
Most of all, remember that we are using our talents to serve the one who created our creativity!
