Seussical - February 22 - March 04, 2018

Young Actors' Theatre

 A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

A person’s a person, no matter how small.

Horton the Elephant sings this line throughout the show, and for me, it is the sentiment that grounds my direction for this production. The cliché of “there are no small parts, only small actors” holds true, but the phrase goes beyond that. All people (in this case jungle animals and Whos) are an integral part of the world, no matter how insignificant others might think of them. As humans, we all have our own unique skills and qualities, and the fantastical world of Dr. Seuss celebrates all those individualities that we have – from being smaller than a dust speck to having a one-feather tail. Ultimately, I admire Horton for sticking up for the little guy, even when facing endless obstacles along the way.

To my amazing cast – I’m so proud of you all! Enjoy this experience because I certainly did. To Jerrica, Matt, Alexa, and Astrid, thank you for always having my back and for making this production a reality. To Jamie and Jess, there are never enough words to say thank you. To all the committee chairs and committees, THANK YOU! Seussical would not be as colorful and wonderful if it wasn’t for all your hard work and dedication.

If you open your mind, oh, the thinks you will find…
