Based on the beloved film, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas takes us back in time to 1954 to meet Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. After serving in the army together and beginning careers as performers, they follow two beautiful, singing sisters to Pinetree, Vermont. There, they are reunited with their former commander and plan a surprise to support him and his staff. Our characters remind us of the importance of community and explore different loving relationships. We see the bond between sisters, a powerful friendship, a granddaughter and grandfather, and a slew of characters that show compassion and loyalty to one another in their own unique ways.
This timeless holiday story has brought joy to families for decades, and we are thrilled to welcome you into the world of White Christmas. I have loved listening to cast and crew members talk about what this story means to them. Many of us watch it every year with loved ones and appreciate the beauty and nostalgia that come with rewatching this holiday classic. More than anything it reminds me of the magic of Christmas I felt as a child, especially when celebrating with my two wonderful grandmothers. Whatever this show means to you, we hope this telling of the story brings you joy and helps you embrace the spirit of the season.
Thank you to Mrs. Berry and the WHS administrative for all of their support. I’m grateful to Mr. Shoemake for his mentorship and creative design. To Mrs. Mills, Mr. McDonald, and Mrs. Gurganus, thank you for jumping on board with this production and offering your creative expertise. I’m grateful to Ms. Bourland for partnering with me in another musical that is made more beautiful because of her choreography and care. And lastly, I am so thankful to this group of students for lending us their time and talents. It has been a joy to work with each of you, and I couldn’t be more proud of your hard work.
We hope you enjoy Irving Berlin’s White Christmas!
