From the Director
Welcome to the Wilton HS production of The Addams Family! There are so many reasons to come out and experience this musical! The characters are entertaining and familiar. You may remember the TV show from the 1960’s, you could have enjoyed the movies in the 1990’s, or you were introduced to the family through the show Wednesday on Netflix. They’re creepy and they’re kooky!
The musical telling of this mysterious and spooky family offers a compelling and entertaining score that is every theatre educator’s dream. At every turn, the script offers the opportunity to showcase the wide scope of talent that is here at Wilton High School.
The students that came together to bring you this performance are the best reason to make the choice to be here for this show. Every member of the cast, crew, and orchestra came together over many rehearsals to collaborate and create what you are going to experience. The hope is that you will find some joy and take in some of the important themes the play offers.
The Addams Family are into the dark side of life, embracing the notion that death is just around the corner, and though that may not your life philosophy, there is something to glean from it. The Addams teach us to fully live each moment, no matter how dark or painful, because only then, are we truly alive. Each member of the Addams Family from every generation accepts the other completely and embraces adversity as a collective. Aren’t the tough parts of life easier to experience when we experience them together?
We have all chosen to be here for this performance to be entertained and to celebrate the efforts of these amazing actors, crew members, musicians, and designers. We hope you truly enjoy each moment we all share together in the theatre tonight. I will speak for myself and say it has been a joyful three months not only getting to know the devoted WHS faculty and talented cast, but to share ideas together, show up for one another, and celebrate each other’s imagination.
