Queen of the World - March 15

Whitefire Theatre

 Director's Note

It is with great pride and excitement that I present my solo play, Queen of the World – An Evening with Marlene Dietrich at the Whitefire Theatre. This solo show is a deep dive into the life and complexities of one of Hollywood’s most iconic and legendary stars. Marlene Dietrich was not just a glamorous actress and singer; she was a trailblazer, a woman who challenged conventions and defied the expectations of her time. She remains a symbol of strength, allure, and authenticity.

This journey has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding, and I’m filled with gratitude to all those who have played a part in bringing this story to life. A special thank you to Jessica Lynn Johnson of Soaring Solo Studios for her expertise, guidance, and unwavering belief in this project. Her support has been a constant source of inspiration, and her influence on this production is evident in every aspect.

I am also deeply grateful to the Whitefire Theatre for selecting Queen of the World for SoloFest 2025. The opportunity to share this story on such a respected stage is an honor, and I thank them for their commitment to supporting solo work and fostering a space for diverse voices.

Finally, to the theatre-loving patrons whose passion and support keep the art form alive: this show is for you. Your energy, your enthusiasm, and your belief in the power of storytelling are what make productions like this possible. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.

I hope you enjoy this evening with me, as I tell the story of Marlene Dietrich—a woman who redefined what it meant to be a star, humanitarian, patriot and whose legacy continues to inspire us all.

With gratitude,

Ivette Viñas
