Christy Orabuena

Director/Producer

Christy aka "Mama O" has been the theatre teacher at WHS since 2003. She has directed over 50 productions at West over the past 22 years. She is a proud West High grad. She went on to recieve her BFA in musical theatre from The Boston Conservatory and an MA in Theatre from Chapman University. Some of her favorite shows have been Legally Blonde, Little Shop of Horrors, Godspell and SISTER ACT!!!

She is a proud mom of her two girls who keep her very busy outside of the theatre.

Christopher Albrecht

Choreographer

Christopher M. Albrecht has been choreographing musicals at West High School since 2011.  He has a B.A. in Dance from UCLA, and graduated with honors in Dance Composition. Favorite credits include: GREASE with La Mirada/McCoy Rigby; The Sound of Music and Oliver! with 5-Star Theatricals; Urinetown with the Coeurage Theater Company; Rock of Ages with Summer Repertory Theater; Hairspray and EVITA with PVPA/Norris Theater, West Side Story with TACFA’s Broadway in the Park; Cabaret at CSULB; Company at Saddleback College; Hairspray / Drowsy Chaperone / Sister Act / H2$ / Nunsense! with Torrance Theater Company; and She Loves Me and Hairspray with the Chance Theater.  HUGE SHOUTOUT to my assistant and pal, Julia Russell! Thank you for joining the team and bringing your talent and expertise to the students! 

Julia Russell

Assistant Choreographer

Julia Russell is so excited to have worked on such a fun show with such amazing students! She just graduated with her BFA in Dance from CSULB where she specialized in Choreography and Performance. While in school she choreographed for the CSULB Dance Department and the Theatre Arts Department as well as trained with Rebecca Lemme, Steven Sofia, and Keith Johnson. She has performed with many artists including Kameron Saunders in addition to various commercial opportunities with several music artists. She looks forward to many more shows to come!
