Director's Notes -

Welcome to the Knife Room! Or I guess I should say Welcome to Murder in the Knife Room, but you will notice that the walls are covered in Knives!

For anyone who appreciates a good ol' fashion murder mystery, you will appreciate this parody of one.  This is a send-up parody of those classic murder mysteries featuring all of the classic stereotype characters, cliches, and tropes you have come to expect.  Thunder? You got it! The blackout? Well a murder mystery wouldn't be one without it! The absurd amount of suspects with insane motives? Yep, you get that in this show in spades.  As you will soon see, in this show, the characters have no names - they are the stereotypes you would expect - the Pompous Millionaire, The Respect General, The Inspector, and many more.  This has allowed the Cast to let loose and really create some many over the top characters to bring this show to life.  This show is over the top and it is suppose to be! Don't take the show too serious; just sit back relax and laugh.

Thank you, all of you, out there in virtual world for viewing this production, what I describe as a Labor of Love.  This year has been difficult and has brought some unique challenges, but we hope that for the next ninety minutes we are able to tickle your funny bone.  We are so excited to be on stage, performing once again, bringing quality theater to you our loyal audience, and for those of you who are witnessing a UHS Production for the first time, we say welcome! And we hope you join us again.  We can't wait to welcome you back to our theater - it just is not the same without the audience.

I wanted to take this moment to dedicate this show to every single member of the UHS Drama Department.  It is not lost on me how lucky I am as a teacher and a director;  A theater department is only as strong as the members of the department, and I am extremely blessed to have a hard working group of kids.  Many times this year, kids could have thrown their hands up and said I'm just not participating right now, but with the help of Parents on the Booster Board, the Thespian Officers, and students, we have kept engaged through evening activities, Q&A's, and more.  I am so honored to be your teacher. To the seniors, I know this school year is not what you envisioned or desired, but you mean so much to me, and I thank you for what you have given.  Thank you, and enjoy the show!
