The Laramie Project - April 12 - April 29, 2018

University of Wisconsin-Madison

 NOTES

From the Director of Theatre Production:

Welcome to our final production of the our 2017-18 season of University Theatre. THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a work that came into being based on the horrific beating and death of Matthew Shepard, a college student in Laramie, Wyoming who happened to identify as gay. This happened 20 years ago and is something that galvanized the national conscience when it happened. Certainly I remember being shocked, appalled, saddened and also concerned for future safety of myself and friends. That we are seeing a resurgence of this kind of thought and activity is to say the least troubling. Therefore this production is very important. I would like to thank Drew Sutherland who is our director for this play and who has been serving as a guest faculty member this past year teaching acting and movement classes for our department. Also would like to thank all of our faculty, staff and students who make our production possible and interesting. To you, our audience, you are our reason for being and doing what we do. Thank you for your continued support.

And please join us this summer for the horror-comedy musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!

aloha,
