Superintendent’s Message
Dr. Suzanne McLeod
It is with great pleasure and anticipation of another fantastic U-E musical that I write this note welcoming all to this year’s production of Rock of Ages. Our students, staff and families have devoted countless hours to bringing this Broadway sensation to the U-E stage.
I am very proud that this show continues the tradition of all U-E shows in that it provides a learning opportunity for our students to participate in an event that requires not just talent and hard work – but also teamwork and collaboration. We are one of the first high schools ever to perform this show, which resulted in one of the original cast members journeying up to our High School to personally work with the cast! Further, we believe that this is one of the largest number of students – cast and crew – who have ever participated in a Union Endicott production.
Rock of Ages exemplifies what is truly great about our students, staff, their parents, and all the volunteers it takes to make a production like this come to life. There is certainly Tiger Pride in wanting a show that everyone will be proud to have been a part of. There is the vision and spirit that – even though some might think this show too challenging for high school students – gives us the strength to rise to the challenge! And, there is love and dedication: to art, to music, and to our community to give them the best we have to give!
It is with great pride that I write to wish the best to the cast, crew, directors, choreographers, musicians, costumers, set lighting, make-up designers, tech coordinators, set construction chief, props chief, box office coordinators and all the myriad supporters who helped bring this wonderful show to the performance you are about to see tonight. The efforts and talents of all will clearly be displayed. What might appear effortless to those of us in the audience, though, is actually the results of hours’ and hours’ – over the course of months – work, culminating in this performance.
