We are the music makers; we are the chasers of dreams…..
Each year as I procrastinate to write my notes, I always try to sound witty or make things personal to each show/cast and what I hope is the takeaway to our audiences. This year there is not some deeper meaning or hidden agenda or even a need for a significant discussion or thought process……
Wonka, Charlie, Grandpa Joe, Veruca, Augustus, Violet and Mike are all of us in one way or another. At some point, whether we own it or not, we have displayed “ugly” behavior, had dreams we did not think we would or could ever achieve, and met people that have left an indelible mark on our lives, for the good and the bad. It is up to each of us how we react or respond to situations.
Our, the musical staff, hope is that our audiences have a touch of nostalgia for Gene Wilder, a hint of Johnny Depp, and a nod of hope to Timothee Chalemet. Bringing Roald Dahl’s iconic characters and phantasmagorical book to life has provided us with challenges, ideas, and hilarious moments throughout the last few months. We would like the takeaway to be simple…..be grateful for everything and what it teaches you and appreciate those you share it with.
We are surrounded by glimmers of “golden tickets” every day….it is our choice to see them and grab one!
