Be Our Guest

Bonjour!

It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight. And now, we invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair, as the cast proudly presents the 2018 Dover Recreation Summer Theatre Program's production of Beauty and the Beast Jr. This show began to take form even before we wrapped for last years production of Willy Wonka Jr. We began brainstorming with a dedicated group of Drama Mamas and Papas. Each piece of scenery was hand drawn, and then crafted. Each costume chosen for the individual cast member. Each prop lovingly made by hand. Each idea mulled over until it was brought to fruition by our team. Many hours have been put into this show, and it has blossomed into the extravaganza you now see before you.

This year, we have a cast of 46 wonderfully talented cast members. Each brings a beauty to the role they play. From their enthusiasm all the way back in March, when we announced the show, to every single rehearsal they have been to, they have matured. Each child has added something truly unique to their role. We have had impomptu French lessons during rehearsal to learn the proper way to say "Monsieur", gone over choreography time and again, sang the songs almost as much as you, the parents, have done. All the while knowing that this would be our best production to date. Spending time with this cast has been an honor and privilege that most don't get to experience. We are humbled to have spent this time getting to know these accomplished actors and actresses.

There are so many people to thank for making this vision come to life. To Teri Ptasnick and the Recreation Department: Your tireless support in this project is inspiring. We thank you for believing in the Arts and keeping this program moving in a positive direction each year. To Supervisor Linda French: Thank you for making the time in your busy schedule to come say "Hello" or check on our progress. It is immensely appreciated. To the Town of Dover Board: Thank you for believing in the magic and importance of theatre in a child's life. To Angela Romeo, Jessica and Mark Santoro, Maria Liveris, Kim Alexander, and Gloria Wassell: Many thanks for all you do every single rehearsal and beyond. YOU are the foundation on which we can build this beautiful story. To Lisa Bonelli: You vision for our costumes is inspiring. To see the smiles on the faces of this cast just from putting on a costume piece you created is magical. You helped them become their characters and we can't thank you enough. To the parents: We are unable to perform our jobs without you. We may not say it enough but THANK YOU!! Finally, we would like to say thank you to our cast and crew. We love you very much and look forward to seeing what the future has in store for each of you.
