Note from the director:
I am extremely proud of these students. They have worked extremely hard and they have treated each other very well. About a week before we opened, I unexpectedly went into the hospital for a few days, but these kids didn't let it slow them down. With the help of Mr. Oliphant, my wife, and a dear friend, and some amazing parent volunteers, these kids kept pushing forward and when I came back, things were better than I'd left them. Most importantly, I applaud everything these amazing students have done. I hope that you thoroughly enjoy watching them perform for you tonight.
The quality of the cast, pit orchestra, stage crew and committees are outstanding. A truly successful production, however, involves more than what is presented on stage. It should be an artistic learning experience, but a personal one as well. I'm especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, the level of the commitment, and the teamwork that has been demonstrated by everyone involved in this production. These students have put ego aside and discovered what whether they had one line or fifty, were on or offstage, that everyone shares equality in the pride and success of such an accomplishment.
Mary Poppins is a well-beloved classic. It is also a HUGE show and one that you probably shouldn't attempt to tackle your second year of teaching high school theatre, but nevertheless, WE DID IT! It is perhaps different than you're used to, but we hope you enjoy our vision. Welcome to Timpview Theatre's production of "Mary Poppins" and we hope you have a tremendous night at the theatre.
