The Phantom Players

 CAST BIOS

MARY BADHAM- was chosen for the role of “Scout” at the age of ten, with no prior acting experience. She won an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.  At that time she was the youngest person ever to do so. After To Kill a Mockingbird, 1962, she appeared in two other films, This Property is Condemned, 1966, with Robert Redford and Natalie Wood, and Let’s Kill Uncle, 1966. She had TV appearances on Dr. Kildare "Sister Mike", 1963, and Twilight Zone "The Bewitchin' Pool", 1964, before retiring from acting to pursue an education as a teenager. Over the years she maintained close contact with Gregory Peck “Atticus” and occasionally accompanied him on his one-man-show lecture tours and award ceremonies. In April of 1997 Mary had a vision to reunite the cast and creative team for a national satellite broadcast to US schools. Mary now maintains a busy schedule lecturing to audiences internationally about the book and the film. Her interest is in expanding knowledge about the film's message of social injustice and to insure that each generation of students can experience the film’s impact.

KEVIN KRAVITZ-'s role as Atticus Finch is a change of pace. His performance as the serious Southern lawyer and single father should surprise audiences who are used to seeing Kevin in light song-and –dance roles.  “An actor attempts to fulfill whatever the writer aspires for the character. The Finches may have never existed, but we will attempt to make them real for that performance.” Kevin has also enjoyed appearing in several of Atlantic East Motion Picture Company’s 48HR films of the last 2 years.

ABIGAIL CRAZE- is in 6th grade at Tomahawk Creek Middle School.  She has previously appeared in CCT’s & The Phantom Players' Disney's The Little Mermaid (Aquata), Hobbitt (Dwalin), Alice in Wonderland (Tiger-lily), and Wizard of Oz One Act (Toto). She has also been in several shows with CharacterWorks and is currently in rehearsals for Anne of Green Gables The Musical (school kid).  When not on stage she enjoys reading, dancing, and hanging out with friends. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of Abby's favorite books and she is excited to be a part of this important story.

GAVIN BOLAND- thoroughly enjoys his time on the stage. Gavin has been acting for four years and is so glad he discovered his love for the stage and for bringing characters to life.  He was very excited to take on this role.Thank you to The Phantom Players for this opportunity and to his Mom and brothers for their continued support.

SHAWN ALEXANDER CARDELLA- Though he didn’t know the character when cast two years ago, this role has always been inside of Shawn: small in stature, but big of heart, with a worldview rooted in fairness. Shawn sees TKaM as a way to understand how people’s consciences can affect others. While recognizing that our country has gone through some bad times, he carries hope that by working together we can make it better.

JOHN CARTER JR- did his 1st play at Virginia Union University at Bell Tower entitled Lumpkin’s Jail in which was Directed by Roi Boyd about a school that was being built for slaves in which John played the role of a slave. His next play was entitled Hidden Mystery Directed by Kerry Magee at the Sycamore Rouge Theater. Other works include; the Tales of Winston Summers Stage Reading & the Cell Series directed by Bryan Thompson. Film work includes; The Master Plan Directed by Chris Lythgoe, and Rise of the third son Directed by Steve James. John also loves to make people laugh & aspires to work with Will Smith, Jaime Foxx, etc.

FRANK CARDELLA-  is in only his third stage show, each of Frank’s characters has left a different mark on him as an actor and a person: Gandalf (The Hobbit) was fun and empowering, Monsieur Poligny (Phantom of the Opera) was a great learning experience, but Sherriff Tate was deeply satisfying and cathartic. The emotional commitment it engendered was unexpected, as was the feeling of being permanently connected to a piece of American art.

JUANDA RAYMOND- began her acting and modeling career with her appearance in the benefit runway show Winter In The Hamptons in 2015. In her current role as Calpurnia she draws her inspiration from her life's experiences. One of her most pleasurable roles was as Mrs. Hammond in Anne of Green Gables. As Momanger she is often juggling her dancer/actress/modeling daughter, JiJi Ramone's, many activities. She looks foward to many more opportunities to display her acting and modeling talents.
