Dear Family and Friends of the Newton Theatre Community
As I sit to compose this Director's Note, I am more and more amazed by the power of youth theatre. The cast crew, staff, and our many volunteers have worked diligently to bring this story to life amidst laughter excitement, and a great deal of snow. I am honored to be a part of this theatrical community.
We are all thrilled to be presenting ANNIE Jr. our first production. It helps to fulfill our vision for the Newton Theatre Arts Academy. If you are new to our audience we welcome you, and invite you to join our theatrical family. I want to thank Heather Cahill-Ball, and Renata Ginter, the Moms and Dads and all the volunteers who have all helped to make this such a successful endeavor. You trusted me to weave the fabric together that is Theater with your children and to provide the support essential to keep that fabric sturdy.
Annie is a musical about finding the bright side of life in everything, no matter how hard life gets. Three months ago we started with a blank stage, a cast of twenty three children, a group of collaborative theatre artists and a vision of how we could bring this story to life. Together, we have practiced the truth of "Tomorrow" as we worked to bring this story to the stage. We hope that you too are changed by what you see, to dream a little bigger, believe a little more and to recognize the splendor that is found within yourself and others.
Thank you for your support and your belief in the power of youth theatre. I am very grateful you are here and we hope you enjoy our retelling of this classic story.
Sincerely,
Laura A. Rizzo Ed. D*
