  A Note From The Director

♪There'll be actual real live people/It'll be totally strange/But wow, am I so ready for this change! /'Cause for the first time in forever/There'll be music, there'll be light. ♪

Frozen Jr, marks the Davis Academy’s 18th musical production. It’s a “chai” school musical! Two years ago, our Frozen Jr. was indeed “frozen”  one week before the show opening, due to the Pandemic.  The ice has thawed and  “for the first time in forever”,  we welcomed our entire Kehillah to play a part on stage or on the crew in this beloved Davis tradition and now perform once again in front of a live audience. L’chaim!

Working with children of all ages in theatre, I witness each day the capacity of the human heart, the mind, the shaping of one’s identity, the power of one’s voice, and the ability of children to make imagined experiences real. For this reason, I am certain of theatre’s immeasurable power to produce a lasting effect on their intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual development. Theatre for children truly is life-changing and assists in shaping their identities as they discover their unique gifts, the conviction of their voices, and stand confidently, proudly, in who they are and aspire to be.

Everything we need to learn to succeed and be prepared for life we can learn on the stage. Even more so in an educational theatre on stage where curiosity, freedom of expression, creative play, open-mindedness, risk-taking, and joy of learning reign supreme and are the foundational pillars of collaborative, connected, engaged communities.

What a flurry of Frozen fun we have will have today melting hearts with our heartwarming tale of acceptance, magic, adventure, family, and true love.

Today, I hope you will celebrate the incredible talents of 130+ students, alumni, staff,  & countless volunteers, and join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and their friends on their journey of self-acceptance, true love, identity, and familial bonds; open your minds, clap your hands with enthusiasm, let it go and “fill this world with light and love!”

Let the sun shine on,
