One my first professional productions I saw was The Lion King on tour in Philadephia. I was so small I practically had to stand on my seat to see. It also didn’t help that I had a large pillar in front of me. While I could enjoy the music, I didn’t quite understand the weight of the production and it’s true meaning. Now, many years later I had the chance to see The Lion King on Broadway and sat second row. It was a true full circle moment, one that allowed me to see a different perspective on the show and truly embrace it.
For many years I have been wanting to do The Lion King jr. every year since the inception of Barnstormers Youth Theater I have brought up the idea of doing the show. But, I didn’t want to do it until I knew I had the perfect cast, staff and design team. Well, finally I did! With producer Jeff “Buzz” DiSabitino, choreographer Jessica Williams, vocal director Kyleigh Bleacher, assistant director Emma Tribbett, assistant choreographer Gianna Capone, costume designer Christina McGovern, sound designer Martin English and stage crew director Trevor Jones. This extremely
talented, well-qualified, passionate team has cared for and empowered these young group of performers. I couldn’t be more thankful and honored to work with them.
I am also in awe of this hardworking, talented, powerful, and inspiring cast! They tackled the challenging music and dance beautifully and told this grand story almost with ease. I also want to shoutout the talented crew that has come in and helped make this show run smoothly! Lastly, I wanted to thank the parents, Barnstormers board, and the Ridley Park Community that has supported these kids and this program since it’s inception in 2019! I am so excited for you all to see this production and these kids shine on stage!
Best,
