Welcome, to our production of "The Addams Family: The Musical."
I am thrilled to embark on this darkly delightful journey with all of you as we bring the beloved Addams family to life on the stage.
"The Addams Family" is a cultural phenomenon that has captured the hearts and imaginations of audiences for generations. This musical adaptation allows us to delve deeper into the macabre yet lovable world of Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, and the entire Addams clan. With an outstanding score by Andrew Lippa and a witty book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, we have the perfect ingredients to create a wickedly entertaining theatrical experience.
In this production, we explored the themes of love, acceptance, and the celebration of our unique quirks. Despite their eccentricities and their love for all things dark and bizarre, the Addams family reminds us that there is beauty in embracing our individuality. Through their hauntingly hilarious adventures, we will discover that what truly matters is the love and loyalty that bind us together.
As we delved into the world of the Addams family, it was essential to pay homage to the iconic characters created by Charles Addams but add a new twist. Each member of this eccentric household possesses their own distinct personality and contributes to the captivating dynamics of the family. From Gomez's passionate charm to Morticia's sultry sophistication, from Wednesday's rebellious spirit to Uncle Fester's quirky wisdom, we had an incredible opportunity to explore the complexities and idiosyncrasies that make these characters so beloved.
I want to express my gratitude to each and every person involved in bringing this production to life. From the dedicated cast members who have poured their hearts into their performances, to the hardworking crew who have meticulously crafted every detail of the show, this collaboration has been nothing short of extraordinary. Together, we hope we have created an unforgettable experience for all of you, our audience, leaving you with laughter, warmth, and a newfound appreciation for the eccentricities that make us who we are.
I would also like to personally thank the San Mateo Foster City School District for their immense generosity and support, especially Patrick Gaffney, Nicole Sandoval, Caleb Bowers, LaTawnia Taylor, Nina Dominguez, Amber Verdin, Mark Herrera and Paul Chapman. I also owe a ton of gratitude for my fellow theatre directors who shared their assets to make this production possible; Stephanie Wozniak (San Mateo High School), Megan Souther (Woodside High School), Rachel Prouty (Sacred Heart Schools), Talia Cain (Sequoia High School). I can’t thank you all enough!
So, let us embrace the darkness, find humor in the macabre, and celebrate the unconventional. Enjoy the show!
With dark delight,
