DIRECTOR'S NOTE
Welcome to this year’s THS Spring Musical, The Addams Family, our ghoulish, dark and fun musical!
Familiar to everyone from the original TV series and movies, I am so thankful that Andrew Lippa made the story into a musical for broadway in 2010! You will be quickly drawn into this family of “unique” characters. Despite their oddness, we discover that their struggles are just the same as any “normal” family.
Wednesday is now a young woman falling in love but still wants her parents’ approval. Pugsley is learning he may lose his sister, whom he loves and thought would be by his side forever. Gomez and Morticia struggle with their relationship, as all couples experience. Fester shows us that through darkest moments, love always triumphs - love for family, love for each other and love for the future. In our sometimes chaotic world, let’s all move toward the darkness and we too can find peace in the unknown.
Special thanks to Bill Bauser and Rochester High School who so generously let us borrow their Addams Family musical stash. Thank you to Rani Gosnell who fills so many needed gaps for the success of the show. Marianne Meister generously donates her time to make sure costumes are set for stage and brings the actors to life. Thank you to all our sponsors and this year a special thanks to a very generous donor, Lorne Day. I thank YOU ALL for being here and supporting the arts.
“Life is a play that does not allow testing. So, sing, cry, dance, laugh and live intensely, before the curtain closes and the piece ends with no applause”- Charlie Chaplin
