GOD'S WAITING ROOM - March 08 - April 02, 2017

THE ELEPHANT THEATER

 End Notes

FROM THE PLAYWRIGHT:

It is important to remember who we are: as a country, as a citizen, as an individual. It is incumbent upon us to respect human endeavor. Today, in these confusing times, it is easy to lose one's identity; it is important to remember that we are brothers and sisters on the same journey. The things that separate us are not as important as the things that bind us.

GOD'S WAITING ROOM is a play about love, hate, bigotry, prejudice, redemption, and more. What I, as a playwright, sought to accomplish is to bring to light the ALIENATION which exists in our country, our families, our religions, and our hearts. If we can think for one moment, put ourselves in the shoes of the outcast, the rejected, the "lost soul", then we can truly feel the pain that a brother or sister feels. As an individual, I have always felt that one should strive to be inclusive and non-judgmental. It may be a hard quest but certainly a worthy one.

If this play speaks to you in any way, please pick up the phone or write an email to someone with whom you've been estranged. Let them know that they are loved. Acknowledge them. Be unselfish in your desire to make amends and look for nothing more than your own satisfaction.

Thank you for joining us tonight, and I sincerely hope you enjoy GOD'S WAITING ROOM.

Best regards,

Bob Rossi

 THE ELEPHANT THEATRE CO.

The Elephant Theatre Co. is a 501(c)3 non-profit originally founded by David Fofi, Lindsay Allbaugh, and other graduates from Cal-State University, Long Beach, Theatre Arts Program. After graduation, this group moved into the Angel City Brewery Artist complex. Focused on their desire to continue their craft, they renovated the space creating a small theatre space and living quarters for the members and called it ELEPHANT OFF MAIN. The loft was 110 degrees, the tech booth was in the bedroom, and the audience sat on couches and beanbags. The mission was to produce a brand new quality theatre in Los Angeles. In 1997 Dave and founding member Don Cesario moved productions to various venues. During the 1998-99 season, The Elephant moved to its long time home on theatre row on Santa Monica Boulevard. Productions were staged at that location unitl 2015 when its last show, THE GREAT DIVIDE by Lyle Kessler, completed the theatre's long and prestigous run. The Elephant has been dark until now. The bright lights, the fresh new plays, the company, and the desire to bring theatre in Los Angeles to new heights has once again begun. The Elephant has returned. On behalf of all Elephant Theatre Co. members, we welcome back celebrated director David Fofi and wish him bonne chance in his mighty endeavor to entertain, educate, and enlighten everyone who lands on the doorstep of Elephant Theatre Co.
