Basil Allen (Brutus) has been performing with SSF for nearly ten years. He values simplicity and conciseness.
Cathy Butler (Volumnia) is excited and honored to take on such a fun and adventurous role as part of her debut with this festival. Some recent credits include Ragtime the Musical (Harlem Ensemble) and Dreamgirls (Michelle Morris) with Redhouse Arts Center, and Aida (Aida) at CNY Playhouse. She also just finished working on set of a student film at Syracuse University, called Reception. Cathy is a 2015 graduate of Le Moyne College. Outside of performing, you can usually find her at the gym, or at the Salvation Army, where she works as an after school/daycare teacher.
Mark Braiman (Menenius) is enjoying his seventh production with SSF. Previous appearances include Henry V (Duke of Burgundy), Titus Andronicus (Marcus Andronicus), The Merry Wives of Windsor (Pilot), The Tempest (Boatswain), and Hamlet (Rosencrantz).He has also appeared with the Syracuse Opera Chorus in Thornden Park productions of Camelot (King Pellinore) and Man of La Mancha (Duke/Don Carrasco/Knight of the Mirrors).
Susanna Carey (Fight Choreographer) is very excited to be able to work on this project. She has always loved Shakespeare and has missed doing fight choreography as much as she did back home. Suze has been an athlete her entire life, competing in a wide variety of athletics from team sports to weight lifting as well as having over seven years of martial arts, kickboxing and fight training experience. She could not be any happier about this opportunity to work with such a great team and simply feels blessed to be given the opportunity to do what she loves.
Anne Childress (Second Citizen, Ensemble) lives in Syracuse but originates from California. Anne studied acting in Syracuse, NY, Hollywood, CA, Santa Barbara, CA and London, England. Studying in London enabled her to see work at Shakespeare's Globe Theater. Her most recent role was Tom Snout, in Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream at CNY Arts Center in Fulton, NY. She was in the ensemble of Salt City Center for the Performing Arts (SCC) 2014 production of Fiddler on the Roof. Anne was an ensemble member, leper and tormentor in SCC's production of Jesus Christ Superstar for the last ten runs. Also, she has performed in Open Hand Theater’s productions of Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Michael Dougherty (Sound Board Operator) For over a decade, Mike has been working off and on with the Syracuse Shakespeare Festival. His participation has often been as sound operator; often in the park.
Caitlin Friedberg (Stage Manager) This is Caitlin’s third show with SSF, she loves every moment (even the rainy ones). She was a dresser for Henry V and Stage Manager for All’s Well that Ends Well. Caitlin also works with the Open Hand Theater and was recently Clown 2 in The 39 Steps. She would like to thank Sara and Christa for the chance to work with them.
