NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR
I am extremely proud of this production of Seussical Jr., as it truly has been a collaborative effort. The quality of the cast, the crew and volunteers are outstanding. A successful production involves much more than what is presented on stage. It takes many talented and hardworking individuals to produce a children's theatre performance with a double cast of 70 students. For everyone who has dedicated time and effort to this performance, please know you have played a part in the positive growth of our amazing students. Theatre should not only be an artistic learning experience, but a personal one as well. I am especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, the level of commitment and teamwork that has been demonstrated by everyone in this production. These students have learned that whether they have one line or one hundred lines, were on or off stage, that everyone shares equally in the pride and success of such an accomplishment. I have been filled with pride as I have watched our older students mentor their younger counterparts. For some of our students this is their final performance with Studio D Productions, as they are graduating seniors, for other cast members this is their first time to play a leading role and for some it is their first time on stage. We are excited to celebrate the talents of each and everyone of them. From the smallest of the small, to the largest of all; we are all equally invested in this large undertaking of Seussical Jr. I hope you enjoy the show and the many lessons Dr. Seuss has to teach each of us about the character and virtues of human beings!
- First of all, I would like to thank Denel James, you are my rock, and without whom none of this would be possible. You are an incredible friend and soul mate!
- I would like to extend my gratitude to all of the parent volunteers who have dedicated so much time to this production.
- Thank you Woody Heath for allowing us to perform in The Griffin Opera House.
- A special thanks to Camelot Theatre for the use of sound and lighting equipment and Main Street Players for the use of set pieces.
- To Sara Bachman and Laurie Eurich, you are amazing women who always help in making our productions beautiful and successful.
- Jason Brown, thank you for the countless hours you have spent on this production.
- Thank you to Ashley Crawford and the Spalding County Elementary Schools who supported our outreach performances.
- Thank you to RISPA for your generosity of loaning us your beautiful Seussical costumes.
- Julie Thurston and Sherri Evans, thank you for always being willing ready, and available for anything.
- Beth Killingsworth, Lori Barnes and Heidi Horne, your costume expertise is much appreciated.
- Holly Brown, thank you for the beautiful headshots and program photos.
- A special thanks to my family for living through a year of Seussical Jr. with me. Without your support I would never be able to accomplish my dream of passing on my love of Musical Theatre to my students. Thank you and I love you for this gift you give me.
- To my graduating seniors, Johnathan Bottisti, Hayden Flanders & Lauren James, it is so bittersweet watching your final performance. You have grown into such amazing young men and women and it has been my privilege to have been a part of your life in the theatre. Each of you will always hold a special place in my heart. It is so hard to let you go, but I am excited to see what the future holds for each of you. The three of you have worked so hard to become triple threats, and have learned the truth about how much hard work goes into becoming a musical theatre artist. I pray I have given you a springboard to jump off of to begin your college careers. You are so special and I expect nothing less than great success!
With Much Love,
Lori Flanders
