 Who's Who

  • John Weltman

    as Truman Capote

John Weltman is delighted to be performing Tru after two years of preparing due to Covid! He performed with Boston Children’s Theatre through H.S. and at Yale with David Hyde Pierce in HMS Pinafore; his last performance was in 1979 as Emery in Boys in the Band. In 2015, 36 years later, he performed with Brett Baird and Tim Hystad in Tim and John’s first performances on Cape Cod in ART in the Black Box. Since, he has performed in Falmouth Theater Guild’s productions of La Cage Aux Folles as Albin/Zaza and Beauty and the Beast as Lumiere; in Cotuit’s black box as Alan Turing in Breaking the Code; and on Cotuit’s main stage as Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Most recently, John appeared in the late Tim Hystad‘s last directed show, Falmouth’s She Loves Me as head waiter insisting on a Romantic Atmosphere. And so John got the great joy of performing in Tim’s first and last shows on the Cape. John dedicates this performance to his dear friend Tim!

  • Carol McManus (Director)

Carol has been directing and performing in plays throughout Cape Cod over the past 40 years, many here at Cotuit Center For the Arts. Her last show in the Black Box was Breaking the Code, which she directed. Although the Covid pandemic did disrupt rehearsal and delay the opening of TRU for many months, working with John Weltman to bring the complex character ofTruman Capote on stage has been a fascinating and rewarding journey. Thank you CCftA for your strong support of this venture.

  • Erin Trainor (Stage Manager)

Erin received her technical training in theater at the University of Vermont, and has been working on shows at Cotuit Center for the Arts since 2009. She has stage managed and been technical director for many shows in the Black Box, both old and new, and has been busy lately on the Main Stage and Outdoor Stage. Most recently she has worked on Fully Committed, Charolais, Humours of Bandon, Grounded, Mary and Ethel, The Grimm Brothers Spectaculation and Kalamazoo. Erin is thrilled to be finally getting to do Tru with John and Carol.
