Synopsis
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a comedy by William Shakespeare, is one of Shakespeare’s most light-hearted, fun-loving comedies. This play interweaves the themes of reality and magic; love and hate; chaos and order through the interactions of three distinct groups: The Athenians; The Fairies, and The Players.
As one of Shakespeare’s most popular romantic comedies, this play interweaves reality and magic, love and hate, chaos and order. Three distinct worlds are the focus: The Athenians, The Fairies and The Players. Chaos and comedy ensue when they all cross paths. This play has it all: angry parents, rebellious teens, eloping young lovers, unrequited love, a natural world asunder, mischievous fairies, magical potions, mistaken identities, struggling young actors, wedding revelries, and an ass.
Contrary to Shakespeare’s original, this production takes place during modern times in the Mediterranean region. The addition of ethereal dances and orchestral accompaniment augment this “dream-like” play.
WARNING: SOME STROBE EFFECTS ARE UTILIZED IN THIS PRODUCTION.
