Director's Notes
After working so hard last year on Antigone, I promised the students an equally challenging yet goofy show. Puffs had been on my radar for quite some time, and I was delighted to find the rights suddenly available.
This incredibly silly show serves as a parody and fun fan-fiction style romp through the magical world of a certain boy wizard. On its surface, it is about jokes and humor and silliness -- things we all need during this challenging year. However, at its heart is a serious tale about heroism and friendship and love. What good is a goofy comedy if it does not also find a way to speak to our hearts? Such are the comedies that we hold dear.
This has not been an easy show -- the circumstances of producing it during this challenging year, with all the props, costumes, and prcoedures, made a hard show even harder. However, it is a show worth doing -- masked or not -- for both our audiences and for ourselves. I think we all feel that we need this.
This performance also marks a decade of the modern Fall Play/Show at St. Paul's. Directing these shows means as much to me as being in them does to my cast and crew.
A Note on the Set
The entire set was made on wheels so it could move for classes during the day and in case of COVID postponements.
