Disney's Aladdin JR. - February 23 - February 25, 2018

St. Isaac Jogues School

 End Notes

Director's Note

Welcome to St. Isaac Jogues School’s Production of Aladdin Jr.! Our cast and crew of eighty students have been hard at work on this production for the past several months. Students have learned the basics of acting, singing, dancing, as well as set and prop construction and painting. We have been very busy to say the least!

I am incredibly proud to present this timeless Disney Classic to you this weekend. The story of Aladdin is such a relatable one with its messages of being oneself, telling the truth, and feeling free to express one’s self. It is my hope that these positive messages reach out to the students of SIJ and the surrounding community. As the beloved Genie from the film version, Robin Williams, once said, “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” I truly believe that the skills theatre teaches allow students to develop both confidence and empathy, and this is why I encourage all students to simply try any aspect of theatre. I am thankful to work with the many talented students at SIJ, and I am certainly looking forward to fostering a love of theatre among my students!

It is no secret that putting on a musical takes extraordinary efforts and dedicated individuals. I would like to personally thank Mrs. Nora Lewis and Ms. Andrea Collier who have been there every step of the way with our students these past months. They are extremely talented professionals, and our students are so fortunate to work with them! I would also like to thank Mrs. Jennifer Govostis for mentoring our crew students on both construction and running crew. Thank you to Mrs. Carol Burlinski who has given me this opportunity and for her unfailing support. I would also like to thank Mrs. Wendy Paul and Mrs. Kristine Richards, as well as all of our many parent volunteers who have generously donated their time to this production. Lastly, I would like to thank God and my family, especially my dad who has constructed the beautiful buildings seen in this production. As always, thank you to the students performing in this production for making this experience fun and rewarding. Enjoy the show!
