DIRECTOR’S NOTE:  Don McKellar, Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison wrote Drowsy in 1998 as a spoof of 1920’s musicals for the bachelor party of real life Canadian actor Robert Martin and his fiancé Janet Van de Graaff. It was such a hit that they all spent the next nine years expanding the show to land on Broadway.

In the summer of 2006, I saw the Original Broadway Cast perform one week after winning 5 Tony Awards. The show was so hilarious, at times I found it hard to breathe. Leaving the theatre I heard iconic lines like “Whaaaaat” resound through the crowd as they exited in delight.

Drowsy has been a labor of love from the beginning. I truly love this show, cast, and crew as much as the Man in Chair does. Everything you see onstage has been generated by the students with guidance from the creative team. We have sung, danced, built, sewn, painted and put together everything you see and hear. I am incredibly proud of the work of this very talented group of students who believe in this show, and have as much fun onstage as we will have in the audience.
