Dreamgirls - May 19 - May 20, 2016

South Philadelphia High School

 End Notes

Notes from Curtis ArtistYear Fellow, Alize Rozsnyai, Director --

South Philadelphia High School has a music program again, and what an incredible way to launch its first year back! I have been blown away daily by the tremendous amount of talent and beauty which each and every cast member brings to the table, and together they truly have formed a "Family" throughout the process of this show.

Music and art are limitless in their power to transform lives and to transform an entire community; I really believe in that and I feel I have witnessed that here. I am so proud of all of my students, and have immense excitement for what the future of SPHS holds. I am honored to be a part of that process.

Dreamgirls is a huge show to tackle -- for any cast, let alone a school; for any school, let alone one which until this year had no music program. Few students have had any performance experience prior to this at all, and nothing to the scale that this show demands. What these students have accomplished is phenomenal and astounding to say the least. After witnessing the work ethic and dedication which each of them has commit, I would without hesitation recommend them for any opportunity; I believe that they each can and will accomplish anything they set out to do.
