Papa Aziz, is originally from NY City where he attended James Monroe High School in Bronx, NY. He later went on to study Liberal Arts at Howard University in Washington, DC. "I am never at a performance just to make a dollar. I always play with the intent to move Nyama or the spiritual energy that flows through living beings and that connects us to our ancestors."

Ron Bradley

Ron Bradley, was born and raised in Wash DC. He fell in love with performing arts when he was a student at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School for the Deaf. He is currently teaching African Culture Expressions, African Preservations and Enrichments of African History.

Nicole Childress
as Dancer/Assistant Director
Nicole "Nikki" Childress, a native of Queens, New York, aspired to be a dancer at the age of four. As one of the youngest members of the Dance Street Company, Nikki's creative talent became very apparent as she excelled at multiple disciplines. Nikki has had a chance to dance with Alvin Ailey, Afro 1 Dance & Drum Theatre, African Heritage, KanKouran West African Dance and currently SIMPINC.

Michael Friend
as Drummer/Artistic Director
Michael Friend founded Soul In Motion Players, Inc. in 1984. He started his music/acting career in 1969 with the world renowned Arthur Hall Afro-American Dance Ensemble and Theatre Advocate, in Philadelphia. In 2011 he won the Montgomery County Executive Award for Excellence in the Arts. He's the recent recipient of the 2014 emPower Magazine's first annual Player's Award for his community work.

Michelle Hutton
as Drummer/Artist Relations
A DC native, Michelle developed a passion for drums at an early age. She studied & performed with Luis Garary's Latin-American World Percussion Ensemble.
For 10 years, she's been a member of SIMPINC, traveled to Senegal in 2011, & studied with Boule Sonko - Ballet National Du Senegal.
