Since I took on the Drama Program at Shepaug last Spring, I have been utterly amazed by the amount of professionalism in the participating students. The cast and crew have been extremely diligent and respectful of each other in every facet of putting on a successful high school performance.
The actors have been always attentive to every detail of their characters; from stage dialects to stage combat, they have been champions. They are extremely responsive to intricate direction and can adapt easily to changes in blocking, etc. I have been harboring on each performer to be 'routing' for each other on stage and off and they have accomplished that in spades. Their attitude is amazing and helps to assist the smoothness of the rehearsals.
The crew have been phenomenal. When I catch the crew at work, I frequently harken back to my undergrad days at UCONN drama with college level techies and the Shepaug crew equal and sometimes surpass those excellent students. They adroitly work out set, sound, props, costuming and lighting challenges with grace and erudition. Thankfully, this gave me more precious time to work with my actors in rehearsals. I want to strongly recognize Angela LeClerc for her diligent direction over these fine students.
I would like to thank the administration and appropriate coaches for their support in all our efforts to give students the chance to participate in more than one after school activity. Also, I would like to thank Sharon Magner for keeping up with my clerical demands to make this show possible.
A big thank you to The Brookfield Theater for the Arts for lending us their set furniture and Mr. Melatti's conveyance of said furniture pieces. Thank you to all parents and guardians for their support during the rehearsal period.
Lastly, I would like to thank Kadence O'Keefe, my assistant director, for her hard work, script writing prowess and marvelous attitude during this artistic process.
