In eighth grade, one of my friends told me to take a deep breath and see what happens, and signed me up to audition for ‘The Wizard of Oz’. I had never been a part of a production before and truly had no idea what I was getting myself into. When I arrived at the first rehearsal, I was overcome by the amount of warmth and kindness in this newfound community.
That first year in theater opened my eyes to the amount of movement a group of kids can set in action. Shepaug Dramatics is a magical program filled with wonderful people of all ages that come together and make the best out of everything they can. No matter how rough of a day I had, there was not one day that I wouldn’t leave rehearsal with a smile on my face.
Cut to three years later, I have been in four productions and am assistant director of this year’s fall play. I am so eternally grateful for this opportunity to work with all aspects of the art I love. I was able to expand my writing, acting, and construction skills all at once.
High school theater has been a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would not trade for the world. Through this program, I have made some of the best friends of my life, and countless dear memories that I will cherish forever. To all of the students before who have helped build this community into what it is today, thank you!
Fondly,
