Directors Notes
It almost did not feel real, returning to the stage, seeing students learn choreography, trying on costumes. Then all of a sudden, we had a show. It was as if we had never been away. To our community and family members, thank you for trusting Scottsdale Prep Theatre Arts as we took last year in a different direction and as we made our return to the stage this year. We could not, nor would we have a reason, to do what we do without you. The sincerity that I thank you with cannot be communicated through my few short words, but please know that you and your students make every day at SPA worthwhile.
When we knew we were returning, we were not sure who we would be returning with. There are always new faces we have not met, old faces that we are excited to see again, but we had lost a whole portion of our community that graduated last year and we had not really reached out to new people to build again. I knew that Little Women would be a complicated show but was certain that our small theatre could rise to the occasion, and they absolutely did. What a better place to start again than with a show dedicated to family. It is everything I strive to have our small rag-tag army of actors and technicians become, family. To have undeniable trust in each other, to share joy and hardship together, to celebrate together. I am proud of what this family has accomplished, not just on the stage, but in their growth and support of each other.
I would be remissed if I did not offer a special thank you to certain new members of our family. None of what is on stage, absolutely nothing, would be possible without the presence and skill of Mr. David Coste and Mrs. Shannon Labadie. These two remarkable humans are talanted, that is not a question, but also phenomenal when working with our students. I look forward to their continued presence in our community.
We would also like to thank the following families for their support during tech week: Moskow-Toel, Pennington, Rahme, Engelmann, Scott-Martin, Peterson-Person, Stephens, Litchfield-Goods, Gale, and Moyer.
Lastly, thank you to Headmaster Gilfillian for his support of our program and students.
To the Cast and Crew of Little Women, Break a leg!
Love always,
Mrs. Anna Chasse Clement
