Sandy Actors Theatre

 Spotlight on Volunteers

by Lexy Dillon, Volunteer Coordinator

Vern SoudersVolunteers make shows happen. They come in all ages, shapes and sizes. Without them there would be no Sandy Actors Theatre.  Vern Souders is a man of many talents.  He is an artist by trade. You may find him using his art to create an acrylic landscape, or air-brushing guitars, or designing jewelry.  He enjoys restoring cars.  He is a family man. I first became aware of Vern when he acted in Arsenic and Old Lace. Since then he has helped paint numerous sets. When we needed someone to paint the floor for Barefoot in the Park, it was Vern who first came to mind. Many of us can paint the walls, but it takes a special talent to paint something so it will look like something else. Vern can do this - be it rocks, the floor, or a backdrop. He is willing to take on new jobs, such as running lights for this show! He is a joy to work with!

Have you thought about volunteering to work on a show here at SAT? You don’t have to be an artist like Vern. Maybe you have a specific interest such as props or costumes or maybe you would just like to be a part of putting on a show. It doesn’t matter what your level of interest or talent, as we will find a place for you. We especially welcome people who are interested in business development and fund raising. Fill out one of the forms in the lobby. Come and play with us!

Our next Volunteer Orientation will be

Wednesday, March 11th
at 7:00pm here in the lobby.
