Note from the Directors

Seussical Jr. is a very special musical because it allows the audience to transport themselves back to their childhood and enjoy the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss.  Dr. Seuss wrote over 60 children’s stories; our musical mentions at least 13 of them. See if you can hear all of them.

This show has so many wonderful messages for our youth today. We have Horton who stands up for what he knows is right no matter who is telling him otherwise. We have Gertrude who, though she struggles with it through out the play, comes to realize that it is truly better to be yourself. Then we have Jojo, our thinker, who doesn’t necessarily do things the way everyone else does, but in the end saves the day.  In our modern world full of social media telling children how they should look, what they should like, and how they should behave, we find it comforting to return to the world of Dr. Seuss and hear these wonderful messages.

It is always great to see students who want to develop their talents and leadership abilities. We pride ourselves on having the students involved in many of the different areas of production. This year one of our 6th graders approached us asking to choreograph the show. In addition to having a role in the show, managing her classwork, and her activities outside of school, this student choreographed SIX dance numbers in this production! She really stepped up and exceeded our expectations.  We want to take this opportunity to thank Ava Watson (Mayzie) for your dedication, talent, and help towards making this production amazing.

Enjoy the Show! Ms. Rodda and Mrs. Berg
