Directors Note
Many of us grew up hearing the tale of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Princess & the Pea. The version you will see here today is not exactly that classic tale. Although the objective for the prince to find a “true” princess is the same, the journey in finding her is a bit different. I chose this adaptation by Pat Rosenthal for its simple story line and rich characters. Some liberties were taken, on my behalf, to enhance scenes with extra minor parts and comedic moments. All our students received intense training in character work and vocal work to really bring their particular character to life! And Courtney Leonard did an amazing job of capturing the essence of these characters with her fabulous costume selections and make-up designs. Please show your appreciation to these young actors and our student volunteers for all their hard work with loud applause and laughter. They have earned every single clap. Thank you to all the parents for enrolling your child in Summer at the Ridge theatre camp. We hope it was an enjoyable and educational experience for all the campers and we hope to see all of you next summer! We would like to recognize Pat Rosenthal as the original playwright and thank Dramatist's Play services for use of the script.
Now, on with the show!
