It is difficult to express in words what happens on your journey to producing a musical. You hold auditions not knowing exactly who will step onto the stage. You begin rehearsals with a vision in your mind but not knowing how the finished performance will actually unfold. There are students you know well and students you don't know at all.
Somewhere in the midst of all the rehearsal, laughing, and hard work, the art begins to come to the surface. People begin to connect with the words and then the music, the drama, and the dance begin to tell the story.
Pippin has been a labor of love to express the value of every person's life. You are extraordinary when you are just being you. Very few people attain fame and fortune, but fame and fortune do not measure the value of a life. When you don't feel important, is often when you are the most important to those around you. As Pippin sings, "when I wanted worlds to paint and costumes to wear, it always was here; it never was there."
We have been so blessed to work with this fine group of young people. To the families of our students, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to create this special art form, musical theatre, together.
As we dance, sing and tell our story, we hope you feel the joy these students share, the love they have for each other, and our show. On behalf of all of us, we hope you experience the magic of Pippin.
