Mary Poppins - November 19 - November 23, 2015

Riverton High School

 Acknowledgements

I grew up with the music of Mary Poppins.  I remember loving the song Let's Go Fly a Kite and singing it all the time when I was little.  I took RHS Theatre students to see Mary Poppins on Broadway in 2008 and in Salt Lake City in 2011.  It was a great show and it was pretty magical when Mary flew over our heads at the end.  I remember turning to my wife Jackie and saying-- this would be really fun to do at the high school-- but also pretty impossible.  9 years later, here we are, thrilled to present Disney and PL Travers timeless characters-- with all of the classic songs you expect- with some bonus ones as well.

We have been working on this show since May- and we hope all of hard work has paid off.

A huge thank you to Principal Carolyn Gough for her constant support and her excitement about being the first school in Jordan School District to present this show.  Thank you to all of the RHS Administrators (Curtis Hagen, Kevin Barton, Art Erickson and Janilee Taylor) for being so supportive with RHS Performing Arts.

Thank you Jason, Mat and Max for assembling the best student musicians and for caring about this production.  Your talents are amazing.

Thank you to the amazing choreographers that worked with us on this show-- Bailee DeYoung (an RHS alumni), Scott Sackett, David Holmes and Kori Wakamatsu for making the students work hard and look fantastic.

Thank you to Mary Smith for all of your hard work with this show.  The students look fantastic.  Thank you to Courtney Christison for her amazing painting techniques and skills.

Thank you ZFX for helping us create magical theatrical moments.

Thank you to Kacey Udy (Hale West Valley), Archive Costume (Hale Orem), Russ Saxton (Dixie High School), GTS, Webb AV, Oasis Stagewerks, Jordan School District Electrical (John Graziano), Robyn Bishop,  Flutterfetti and all of the RHS Stage Crew students for your hard work.

Thank you to the RHS Main Office Staff for handling all of our tickets (Brenda-- I hope our account is now in the positive)-- we love you Margaret, Trisha, Lori, Brenda, Michael and Jenn.

Thank you RHS parents that came and helped with props, costumes, paint day, running errands and our tea party.  Thank you for supporting your child in this production.  I hope your child walks away from this show with once in a lifetime memories.

Thank you RHS Custodial Crew (we used streamers and not confetti for this show...)

Finally, thank you to my family (Mom, Dad, Ari and Ben and Emily and Ben) for helping us with this crazy show-- and the largest thanks of all to Jackie (a perpetual drama teacher show widow), Millie and Ellis.

Remember Anything Can Happen if You Let It.
