Hello Dolly! is a classic, Broadway musical comedy. You've heard songs from this show (even if you didn't know they were from this show). Every day down Main Street USA in all of the Disney Parks, you can hear Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Elegance, Hello Dolly and Before the Parade Passes By.
In 2008, a Disney/Pixar film named WALL-E used two of the songs from the musical, It Only Takes a Moment and Put On Your Sunday Clothes to express the feelings of a little trash compactor robot. So what do both of these shows have in common? Composer Jerry Herman says, ""Both shows are about a basic need for people to go on with life and not shut themselves away and to make the most out of the time we have on this planet."
Hello Dolly! has been so much fun to work on and many thanks are in order.
First, thank you to the Administration (Principal Gough, Curtis Hagen (sitting in his usual front row seat), Jim Marsh, Dr. Ritz, and Kevin Barton) for supporting the performing arts at Riverton High School. Also, a big thank you to faculty, staff and custodians at RHS.
Thank you to Mat, Jason, Max, Mary and Erin for all of your help and support.
A huge thank you to Melanie for your awesome choreography and energy (and for bringing Rachel to dance for us).
Last but not least, thank you to Jackie for being a musical widow and Millie and Ellis (time to put away the soundtrack for Annie Get Your Gun and listen to something new).
And last but not least, thank you parents for letting your students be a part of the show!
