    Joy is returning to the Ritz stage again to return to her musical theatre roots! She is delighted to bring Violet Newstand to the stage. Joy is a Ritz stage veteran, performing in the productions of Dearly Departed, Sweet Delilah Swim Club, Steel Magnolias, and Red Velvet Cake War. Being in the company of thespians is time well spent! Joy spends her day taking care of an active family, loving her standard poodles, knitting colorful creations and various volunteer pursuits. Joy would like to dedicate her performance to her loving husband and son, who are her heart.

    In 2017, Lubbock Community Theatre awarded Cassie Best Female Performer of the Season for her role as Caitlin O’Hare in Over the River and Through the Woods. In 2015, the Theatre Network of Texas awarded her All-Star Cast for her performance as Sherry in the State-Advancing One-Act Play Tigers Be Still. Some of her favorite shows she has performed in are Greater Tuna, Annie Jr., Steel Magnolias, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Addams Family, Blithe Spirit, Over the River and Through the Woods. She would like to dedicate her performance to God for giving her the gifts and the opportunity to perform, to her wonderful husband Brandon Kopper for all of the love and support and for always wanting to get on stage with her, to her dog Tippi and cat Leon for handling all the late nights and understanding why the food bowl was not always filled exactly on time, and to her family for always supporting the late and nights and seeing every show I’ve ever performed in.

    Luz Valadez has been involved in theatre for many years. Her previous stage management credits include Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Newsies, Lion in Winter, How I Learned To Play Tennis, The Hard Woo, Unsupervised, The Clam, Gasoline In A Bottle and the moon is upside down. She has also had the opportunity to be a part of many other productions such as sound operator for Shrek Jr., sound operator for Annie Jr., set designer for She Kills Monsters, set crew for Deathtrap, sound operator for Young Frankenstein, sound operator for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, sound operator for Oklahoma!, and light board operator for You Can’t Take It With You. Luz is very grateful for this opportunity! Thank you for supporting local theatre!
