    is deeply honored to be a part of this extraordinary show. It has been truly a joy to get to work with the cast of A Midsummer Night’s Dream! Apart from the show, this is Kara’s second year in the FYC program. She is also in the theatre program at Clover Hill High School and has acted in shows such as The Giver, Six, and Sweeney Todd this year.

    Artistic Director/Bottom/Director/Production Management/Scenic Design/Sound Design

    has worked as an actor, director and educator in New York City, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Richmond. He has worked regionally and internationally as an actor, performing in such venues as: The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC, The Kennedy Center, The Folger Shakespeare Library, The American ShakespeareCenter in Staunton, VA, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, The Clemson Shakespeare Festival and the Globe Theatre in Neuss, Germany. For Richmond Shakespeare, James has directed Doctor Faustus, Hamlet, The School for Lies, An Iliad, She Stoops To Conquer, Love’s Labor’s Lost, Lysistrata, As You Like It, The Tempest, Red Velvet, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, and The Bottom Show. James has been nominated for several RTCC awards for Best Direction and won for his production of Julius Caesar. James received his BFA from the University of Oklahoma and his MFA from The Shakespeare Theatre’s Academy for Classical Acting.

     

  • Jase Smith Sullivan head shot

    Jase Smith Sullivan

    Managing Director

    began his arts administration career nearly twenty years ago at Firehouse Theatre where he last served as producing artistic director. He has held various executive leadership positions at theatres and performing arts centers from coast to coast. Sullivan earned a BA in Theatre from The College of William and Mary in 2005 and studied Shakespeare at Cambridge University in the U.K. He earned his MFA in Theatre from VCU in 2008, where he also served as an adjunct faculty member. He is a recipient of Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 award. For Richmond Shakespeare he has directed Into the Woods (RTCC noms. for Best Musical and Best Direction, Musical). Favorite regional directing credits include HAIR, The Wild Party, POP! Who Shot Andy Warhol?, The Rocky Horror Show, RENT, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Reefer Madness, Zanna Don’t and Christmas with the Crawfords. Sullivan is a proud member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
