Director's Note:
Hello everyone,
I want to thank you all for taking the time to watch our production of I and You by Lauren Gunderson. I also want to give thanks to my cast, and everyone who was involved in this Growing Stage production. We were originally scheduled to perform this play last spring but, like many other productions around the world, we were unable to go forward with our plans due to the pandemic.
Fortunately, we were given the opportunity to pick up where we left off, and I am so grateful for how professional everyone was -- hopping back on the horse to make it to the finish line.
But what we did not realize, was that the finish line kept moving! We knew we’d be filming, instead of performing live -- but that was okay. We had a plan, and we followed a bunch of rules to keep everyone safe, and so we got back to rehearsing.
But then, our governor determined that Rhode Island needed to take a “Pause”, to try to lower the infection rates -- so our original filming date got moved up by a full week. Not a problem -- again, the team rallied.
But then, in the middle of our filming week, one of our team tested positive for the virus. Luckily, everyone--including this teammate--is feeling fine. Unluckily, we had to abandon filming in person and complete the project remotely.
It’s been an adventure, but we were able to stick together and finish filming this production! So, thank you again for watching the show -- and without further ado, please enjoy, I and You.
