NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

First off the students and I would like to extend our many thanks and deepest gratitude to our principal, Mr. Ron Okamura. Thank you for the constant solid foundation upon which our program can stand upon which continues to help our students become compassionate individuals filled with responsibility and integrity. Mr. Okamura has provided tremendous support to our students and our directors who get to work with these exceptionally young people. It all begins and ends with you and we are eternally grateful to have you as our principal.

Next I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to our wonderful creative and production team members! This year we've expanded tremendously with adding in Keelikolani and their directors and adult support as well as adding two wonderful almuni into the fold; Ms. Jennifer Pacis and Ms. Amarrah Guitguiten. Each and every single one of you make the magic happen for our students with the extra effort that you've been willing to put in. Words cannot express the gratitude and awe that I have for each one of you and your tremendous contributions. Dwayne Sakaguchi, Scott Takata, JC Messer, Joseph Nakamoto, Anson Bernal, Eren Star Padilla, Kristi Auyoung, Bartly Wilson, Ms. Abbey Palmer, Mr. Thomas Fox, and Mr. Allen our KMS bus driver! A huge MAHALO to you all for the time, effort, and hard work you put in to make this a success. Hats off to you all!

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers from McKinley High School students, faculty, staff, and our community helpers from our neighborhood. You all helped with our House needs for the box office, fundraising efforts, and ushering. We couldn't do it on our own and it truly goes to show that it takes a community to make this program a success. You all complete us in our crazy-fun adventure!

Thank you to the wonderful programs that continue to work together to showcase McKinley High School! McKinley’s Art and Music Departments, Building & Construction from the STEM Academy, Graphic Arts & Design Program from the Tiger Media Learning Center Academy, the student Art Club, and Athletics department. This year was such a daunting task trying to do sets and their designs but that moutain has been conqured and we are forever grateful for your valiant efforts to help us bring the show to life. My heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude goes out to each and everyone one of you! Mahalo!

To our MTG alumni family, thank you for always being a part of a rich histroy here at McKinley High School and supporting the continuation of the program! We are so happy and honored to have you with us on our journey. From supporting us from a far to working with our students and I, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. MTG FOREVER!

And finally to all my wonderful students. Everyday you've all amazed me with your valiant efforts and brilliant smiles. And though the thickness of crazy rehearsals, frustrations on getting your roles down, and going through hell week together, you've all shown me that you are all truly diamonds in the rough. You've all shinned and sparkled on this stage and you've learned to bring the magic to an audience. Just remember that the real magic is inside you and it's there every day. Thank you for being the MTG family that I've always dreamed about and hope to have for all of you. Congratulations on a wonderful show!

Final note for all our beautiful students:

Like a comet pulled from orbit as it passes the sun

Like a stream that meets a boulder halfway through the wood

Who can say if I have been changed for the better

But because I knew you

I have been changed for good
