Play Inc. Would Like Your Help
What does it cost to do a big musical in Cambridge, MN? Well our last two adult productions each cost about $20,000. This includes sets ($2000-$5,000), costumes ($2,000-$3,000), tech rentals ($3,000+), facility rentals ($130 for an evening of rehearsal and almost $100 an hour during Sunday performances totally between $3,000-$4,000), and show royalties ($4,000). Ticket sales count for 95% of the money spent on shows. Knowing these costs always limits what experience we could actually give our audience. We are as frugal as we can manage (there are programs who easily spend three times as much on a show like Mary Poppins). Play Inc has big dreams, and it's time to come to our audience to realize them.
As Play Inc begins its 15th Season this summer, we are asking for our community to take an bigger role in our development, so that we can give them a bigger return in arts offerings. We are introducing the 15 x 10 Collective (15 for our 15th season, 10 for a ten year pledge of support). We are looking to create a group of 400 supporters of Play Inc to pledge $150 (15 x 10) annually for 10 years. This financial support will provide Play Inc with an income that will allow us to potentially purchase and begin the remodelling of a current existing vacant building in Cambridge. It will also allow us to continue to develop productions that are of the highest quality for the East Central Minnesota region without always wondering if we'll sell enough tickets to a show to allow us to have a 16th season.
In addition to this group of ongoing supporters, Play Inc is introducing many levels of donor recognition. If you'd like to make a donation tonight, please put your donation in the provided envelope and return it to the ticket booth. If you'd like to see more information about donor levels, perks for becoming a donor, or to make an online donation, please visit www.playinconline.org for more information
Thank you for your continued support of the Arts in the Cambridge area
