Performing Arts Academy of Jupiter

 director's note

A letter from the director,

If you had asked me a year ago if I would ever do a Christmas musical, I would have said you were crazy. Christmas has always been one of those holidays that didn’t bring me much joy. It’s always been a double-edged sword of trying to get into the Christmas spirit, while also having to deal with the stresses that go along with this crazy time of year. I’ve never been able to truly enjoy the season because the hustle and bustle of the time goes by so fast trying to get everything done.

When I decided to do this show, I didn’t expect it to affect me as much as it has. So much has happened in my life in these past few weeks, and it has been hard to truly stop and enjoy the time that I have with everyone. What this show has taught me is to love the ones that you are with, to not wait to show the love you have, and to spread joy to those around you.

I am so grateful to share this wonderful message through this show. Remember that joy is always there; you just need to open your eyes and see, to not be afraid to believe in a little magic now and then, and that miracles can happen even when you least expect it.

I want to thank Monica and Erich, and Trina and Alex for all of their hard work in putting together such a beautiful show. They work tirelessly to give these shows their very best. Their heart and dedication do not go unnoticed, and it is because of their love and support that we are able to produce these wonderful shows.

Thank you to Ava, my stage manager, for stepping into the role and being my right-hand woman. Thank you to Gregg for being my partner in this and countless other productions - you are such a gift to these students, and I can’t wait to see what heights you take them to next. Thank you to Andrew for always being there whenever I need him. For always wanting to help me in any way that he can, even if it means he must dye his hair green. Thank you, Chris, for all you have done for this show. You are truly incredible at what you do, and these students are so lucky to learn from you and to experience your beautiful designs. I can’t thank Beverly enough for coming back to help me with this show. You have no idea how much your talent and time mean to me. I am so grateful to work with you, and I’m even more grateful to call you my friend.

Lastly, I want to thank you, the students. Your heart and passion have been the driving force in my life these past eight years directing and choregraphing these shows. You have taught me how to find the joy when there was none to be found. You taught me how to smile when it felt impossible. Thank you for always believing in me and sharing your laughter.

I am so happy that my final production here is one that shows the world what it means to spread joy and laughter. “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
